SHADOWBOX TELEVISION: CAPTURING VALUE THROUGH DISRUPTION

With a digital venture, that started as a stand alone social television network in 2012, we took Shadowbox TV through an aggressive 10 day pre-launch at SXSW 2014 (South by Southwest – www.sxsw.com)*. Through professional reach and conferencing via SXSW Film, Interactive, and Music festivals, and marketing our brand through live musical event (Shadowbox SXSW Concert), the response was nothing but positive, and we are ever so grateful for that.

It’s been evident since 2008, that audiences who were once coveted by traditional TV were gravitating toward a new generation of digital storytelling and self promoting. As a new film/tv producer and also a start-up entrepreneur building a shared economic  application for aspiring artists like myself, it was critical to validate the market space for social / mobile television, before development and iOS layout began*. In this manner, we could build out accordingly and execute properly, saving time in the long run. I returned from our ‘Pre-Launch” with a unique approach to television, one that offered social, artistic, and monetary value like no other.

Shadowbox Television (Beta Live 5.15.15 – site & sign up listed below) is a network targeted for creative millennials (independent / social artists, designers, musicians, film makers, content creators, brands, and social entrepreneurs born in the early 80’s to early 2,000s) paving clear path to what will be expected by the iGeneration takes over. Self promotion has permitted millions of people to become brands in their own right, and Shadowbox is the perfect place for these people to operate aggressively, yet collectively so we foster collision. When elementary school kids are formulating their own monetized business models behind micro-budget series that generate sufficient ad/partnership revenue, and fan-bases beyond 20 Million, its best we prepare for a new frontier for alternative content distribution, and a world of individuals that can earn a living with a mobile device & WIFI,,,,

Beyond building dedicated audiences that rival the size of industry leaders, we built Shadowbox beyond TV into four (4) complimentary markets in eCommerce (Shadowbox Collective), Social Journalism (Shadowbox MVMNT), alternative content distribution (Shadowbox Television), and exclusive professional/social networking (Shadowbox Generation coming in mid 2016). All gateways and information can be accessed via our interface at https://shadowbox.space/. In a social / shared marketplace of this nature independent films, shows, brands, stories, products, causes, news, and all that is lifestyle / pop culture, can work in a synthesized and calculated manner. permitting independent artists to step into their brand, story, or project, and take it to a different level (per the duration permitted on our platform).

The images surrounding this piece are taken from a Shadowbox Studios shoot for a cinematic promo series (for Shadowbox Television) entitled Beats + Camera + Story + Love. This company tagline for the TV Network references the artistic, social, and mobile components that bring together the ease, style, lens, and trend of mobile film making, a rising niche this alternative TV network will cater to. Shadowbox Studios (San Francisco, CA) is the hybrid (cloud based) cinematic arm of the Shadowbox Corporation. This division produces for it’s own network and collaboratively with select partners. The essence of the story line explores topics pertaining to the shift in Hollywood; digital takeover; and the raw, explosive, and social power we have as our own creators. With that power comes danger and equally success, through the eyes and actions of our main characters. CONTENT // COLLISION

The Shadowbox platform comes systematically managed for the intent of creative exclusivity, social collision, and collaborative earning. From here the intent will naturally shift to new market creation, partners forming partnerships with unlikely partners, and “new value” captured through each move.

The Shadowbox TV Network captures “new” value in its digital environment that offers  1. A clean and concise profit participation model, accompanied by a safe, secure, and seamless payment method; 2. A give back component through its social cause channel Ringside (@shadowboxcause),  3. Greater peer to peer / professional connection and responsibility sharing (not just social media sharing); 4. A chance of lottery / speculation. You never know what names may show up on our submission page. A powerful artist could do a lot of good through sharing just one release on our network, we’re just saying.

USAGE // MODEL

How to earn a shared paycheck on our network is detailed on our site, but for the purpose of this piece, we can start the conversation by stating that Shadowbox revolves around a crowd-sourced “Freemium” Model. Our revenue / business models permit the network to operate sufficiently with shifting markets, fulfilling consumer demands (financially) and personally.

MODELS

With beta in motion and transactions beginning to take course, Shadowbox TV will operate through the most complex of the subscription/pricing models, referred to as “Usage”. This type of pricing is used primarily by IT and ‘Cloud Services’ companies. So why usage you might ask?

Essentially, Shadowbox Television enables customers to pay only for what they use, permitting them to be happier, and more likely to hang around. Shadowbox TV gives the option for artists to earn more (vs. key competitors) from their original content and/or creative talents (in an enclosed time frame / shared work structure) through our profit participation model (referred to as the “Purse”). An example: 1 (of 4) distinct revenue streams for our social television venture, gives Shadowboxers (contributors) the option to post select content at a price they can dictate on our Paywall TV option.

Our Paywall system permits tracks, music videos, films, alternative content, and so forth to be sold at a price the artist(s) selects, and is willing to share at the end of their collective term. After setting the price (as approved and reviewed by the Shadowbox Corporation), revenue will be factored into the “Purse” by which our selected set of contributors (Shadowboxers) will share evenly with his/her fellow peers at the end of their term in the ring. How we operate from there is calculated to effectively grow our organization to build our enterprise through new value, mobile power, and creative measures that are shared evenly…..so simple…and very needed in my opinion.

MIDDLE // FINGER // MENTALITY

With the rise of self promotion, and all that is “me”…”middle finger mentality” seems to be a trend for several reasons including, the immense rise in independence and self reliance. This notion of “F-YOU – I CAN TAKE OVER THE WORLD – I CAN” can be dangerous and also beautiful from a certain angle (in a form of artistic expression that is, by which causes no personal harm). Emotions clash at the same moment, and it’s here where our network looks to find the medium, and every alternative angle that surrounds it. Learn more through watching Beats + Camera + Story + Love.
