It’s not a top ten, its not a countdown of any sorts, it’s our “Favorites”. These microarticles embody the need to write about things we enjoy and admire on all levels. For our first “Favorites” piece within our stick N move Music Page, we respectfully tackle a collaborative shadowBOX piece that looks back on 2014, a little before, and a little after, into present day. To get our “Favorites” category kicked off where music and stick N move is concerned, lets talk electronic, DJ, and performance.
Its evident to many music lovers like myself, that Electronic Dance Music (EDM) is rushing to the forefront of conventional tastes, but the explosive genre, however, is scarcely juvenile. It began as an underground movement in the 1980s, during my childhood, that was filled with every kind of alternative sound I could lay my ears on.
I’ve been a music fanatic since I was born, and in my 30’s now, I thank the higher powers for permitting me to see thousands of live shows worldwide. From the Grateful Dead to Gang Starr and back around to the Glitch Mob, I’ve been there, I love it there, and it feels surreal to have our shadowBOX platform live, and have the space to write about going there. It’s a source like shadowBOX MVMNT, where we pencil the topics that we favor, and the creative spirits that influence our souls. Lets proceed.
What were some of our favorite EDM / DJ Performances over the past many months? All of them of course, and we clocked in at a lot from New York to San Francisco . But we will start with these events mentioned, and please assure, that there will be plenty more “Favorites” to come. I admire the distinct style each one of these artists delivers, and as a fan of each one, I feel so blessed to have seen a few of them more than once, in different venues and cities, over the past 15 months.
All of the photographs within this piece were taken on site at each event, by myself and/or our shadowBOX MVMNT staff. While crystal clear pictures are always an attractive component to cover an article, the pics selected were “altered” to reflect the nature by which artists worldwide, are altering one another’s sound and style, and profoundly remixing the electronic evolution that is here to explode on playback 24/7. Links and resource for each artist is below, and we suggest you give em all a listen.
